Leftists Rally at White House to Protest Trump, Protect Mueller

Some protesters said they fear Trump is close to causing a constitutional crisis.

USA media sources have claimed special counsel Mueller is on the verge of claiming his biggest scalp yet as he readies an indictment against Donald Trump Junior. 'We have confidence in the Mueller investigation.

Portland's demonstration was one of several hundred across the state, the nation and worldwide.

These comments have led Democrats - who this week took a majority in he House of Representatives following the midterm elections - to call on Whitaker to recuse himself from overseeing the investigation. She said she wants a firm response from Graham. I was expecting 60, maybe 80 people. Drivers and bus passengers faced some delays as protesters took to the streets.

Dozens of people gathered at the state Capitol in Denver on Thursday evening to rally in support of the Russian Federation investigation.

Trump announced the resignation and Whitaker's assignment on Twitter.

The timing for when a final report would be submitted by the special counsel's office is still unclear, and sources say there is also no clear timeline for when Mueller will wrap his investigation.

Whitaker also laid out in a July 26, 2017, CNN appearance a hypothetical scenario in which Mueller's investigation could be stifled without him being fired.

Acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker once argued that an American president had such broad executive power that they could order any federal investigation be stopped without obstructing justice.

The president hasn't been charged with any wrongdoing, but federal prosecutors have said that a grand jury investigation is ongoing and it targets unspecified "others".

The crowd in Portland was clearly angry with Trump.

For a "lynch mob", Mueller has so far produced a very methodical string of indictments, convictions, and guilty pleas from Trump's associates, and there is no shred of indication that anyone has been denied due process of law. Trump, who denies any collusion, has long complained about the probe, calling it a witch-hunt.

"Donald Trump has installed a crony to oversee the special counsel's Trump-Russia investigation, crossing a red line set to protect the investigation", organizers said on a Facebook Event page for the protest.

Protests in at least 900 cities nationwide, aimed at protecting Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, are planned for Thursday.

Even after he arrived at the Justice Department, Whitaker expressed frustration about the length of Mueller's probe and doubts about the scope of his authority.

While Whitaker is now Mueller's ultimate supervisor, it was not immediately clear whether that meant Rosenstein would step aside.

"The rule of law is disappearing before our eyes", tweeted Sally Yates, a deputy attorney general under Trump's predecessor Barack Obama and briefly in the top job under Trump before he sacked her.

Joy Robinson said the Rock Hill's protest was put together in less than a day.
