Pochettino relishing EFL Cup clash with 'good friend' Emery

Arsenal were able to hold out for the victory despite Blackpool pulling one back shortly after, but Guendouzi will have to serve his resulting suspension in this weekend's important clash with second placed Liverpool at the Emirates. "Every day we need to be very, very prepared for each match".

Self-confessed bookworm Unai Emery has just finished reading a book which carries a title he will want to transpose onto his Arsenal side when they face Liverpool on Saturday night.

"We need a big match in the individual duels against them and also tactically we need to be together and play with our identity and style that we need to impose on them".

Liverpool FC have started to find their goal-scoring form over the past couple of weeks after a 4-0 win over Red Star Belgrade and a 4-1 victory over Cardiff City.

A draw at the Emirates would put Jurgen Klopp's men level with Gerard Houllier's Reds side from 2002/03 who tallied 27 points from their first 11 matches, while Klopp's 2016/17 outfit had 26 points at this stage of the season. "In fact, this is probably Liverpool's most hard game of the season so far". After Saturday's game, Liverpool are left to play only Manchester United out of the Big Six.

Emery dodged a question about Ramsey's contract after Wednesday's 2-1 win over Blackpool in the Carabao Cup, but said he is confident the player is remaining focused on his job.

Emery could be without a host of first-choice defenders with Hector Bellerin, Nacho Monreal, Sead Kolasinac and Sokratis Papastathopoulos all to be assessed before the game.

Looking ahead to facing Spurs, Emery said: "We are here to do one thing in this title and we are going to play against the big teams".

Thinking from an Arsenal point of view Molby added, "They don't really want to go seven points behind Liverpool this early in the season, so it's as massive a game for Arsenal as it is for us. It's nice to prepare them [the players], it's hard but it's nice because you need the full package to cause them problems", Klopp was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

The Bournemouth supporters will no doubt be expecting more hard times to come, but for now they will enjoy their lofty position having been stuck in the relegation zone, 13 points and 13 goals worse off at the same stage of last season.

The fixture has a history of high scores with the last nine Premier League matches bringing 42 goals.

The second absentee is Jordan Henderson who has a tight hamstring.
