Claims Khashoggi's body was 'dissolved' as fiancee speaks out

"Jamal Khashoggi's abduction and murder is extremely troubling".

State Department spokesman Robert Palladino told reporters Washington will "hold accountable not only those who executed the murder, but also those who led, were involved and were connected to it".

Khashoggi's fiancee Hatice Cengiz, who waited outside the consulate as the journalist entered to obtain documents for their upcoming marriage, said what was done to his body was "brutal, barbaric and ruthless".

Khashoggi has been missing since October 2 when he entered the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul.

A Saudi insider-turned-critic, Khashoggi was killed and dismembered in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul last month.

The Israeli PM had asked top USA officials recently not to abandon their support for bin Salman over the killing of Khashoggi at the Saudi consulate in Turkey's Istanbul, according to multiple reports.

"We made a commitment of holding accountable all those responsible for the murder of Jamal Khashoggi", the USA chief diplomat noted in a separate WIBK radio interview.

Germany and Switzerland have vowed to halt arms sales to Saudi Arabia until the case is clarified.

According to The Washington Post, Netanyahu has specifically told the White House that the crown prince is a key strategic partner and a linchpin of the US-Israeli front against Iran's regional influence.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on Thursday it would take a "handful more weeks" before the United States has enough evidence to impose any sanctions in response to the killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul last month.

"We're going to find the fact pattern", he said. "He denied such claims repeatedly over the past several years", the family said.

"Despite our well-intentioned efforts to reveal the truth, no concrete results have come out of those meetings", the Istanbul chief prosecutor's office said, adding that it was in this light that it had been "obliged" to share the details about how Khashoggi was strangled and his body "dismembered and destroyed", in accordance with plans made in advance.

The Saudis have given a shifting account of what happened to Khashoggi on October 2.

Turkey has steered away from publicly blaming Saudi Arabia for the killing. The Turks added that the Saudi prosecutor also said no statement had been made by Saudi authorities about the existence of the purported local cooperator.

United States activists have launched a petition, calling for a section of road near the Saudi embassy in Washington to be renamed Jamal Khashoggi Way.
