Cleveland Browns Fire Head Coach Hue Jackson

Cleveland Browns Fire Head Coach Hue Jackson

Jackson, the 16th full-time Browns head coach in the franchise's history, went 3-36-1 in his two and a half seasons in Cleveland.

The changes come following a 33-18 loss at Pittsburgh Sunday and it marks the sixth consecutive time the team has fired a head coach following a loss to the Steelers joining Romeo Crennel, Eric Mangini, Pat Shurmur, Rob Chudzinski and Mike Pettine.

Cleveland, which holds a 2-5-1 record this season, also reportedly worked out Junior Galette on Monday. Defensive coordinator Gregg Williams will serve as the team's interim head coach.

And that summarizes the curious relationship between the pink-slip-happy Haslams and former Brown coach Hue Jackson, who survived much longer than he should have in a job he was destined to lose.

But the Browns have won only once since then and lost their past three, resulting in Jackson's sacking on Monday. Jackson's firing came a day after the Cavaliers fired Tyronn Lue.

"I do not know if it does a lot of good to go back and look at the past", Haslam said.

When the Chiefs meet the Browns on Sunday, Cleveland will have a new coach.

"Riley has impressed National Football League scouts who come through the school, particularly with the way he developed current Browns QB Baker Mayfield", Pelissero wrote.

Dorsey doesn't have reason to worry about that scenario anymore, however, as Haley also was sacked Monday afternoon. Mayfield, the first overall pick In the draft, was caught in the middle with Jackson and Haley.
