Timberwolves star Butler reportedly requests trade

We've all heard that Butler is fed up with the young "Timberpups" and wants to move on, possibly even angling for a trade.

He informed Timberwolves president and coach Tom Thibodeau of the request during a meeting Tuesday in Los Angeles, sources said.

When the Minnesota Timberwolves acquired Jimmy Butler previous year before the season began many people speculated about how good the team could be.

He helped lead the Timberwolves to the NBA Playoffs past year for the first time in 13 seasons, despite missing significant time with a torn meniscus.

San Antonio could send Pau Gasol to Minnesota to make the salaries match, according to ESPN's trade machine, and that would reunite Thibodeau with one of his former Bulls players that he seems keen on acquiring. The Brooklyn Nets, New York Knicks, Los Angeles Clippers are expected as desired destination, and could. In exchange for the then three-time NBA All-Star, the Bulls received Zach LaVine, Kris Dunn, and the #7 pick - Lauri Markkanen. Butler has been frustrated at times with both Andrew Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns, the No. 1 picks in the 2014 and 2015 drafts, respectively. Of course, a commitment from Butler to re-sign with the team could mitigate the issue.

Butler's impact on the Wolves was easy to see last season.

Those questions won't stop until the season ends - or until the Timberwolves answer them with actions.
