After the one-week trial, Nintendo Switch Online will cost players either $3.99/£3.49 monthly or $19.99/£17.99 annually. It will last approximately 35 minutes, and will feature information about upcoming 3DS and Switch titles.

Nintendo announced two of the Nintendo Switch Online exclusive offers that will only be available to people with paid subscriptions.

Of course, there's likely to be some gameplay tricks up Nintendo's sleeve with the Switch. If you somehow manage to lose your Switch or it gets damaged, you can recover your cloud saves and any purchased digital content without too much hassle, along with your Nintendo Switch Online account.

You can pre-order the Switch NES controllers on September 18th, and Nintendo says shipments will start in December.

The news came as part of a simple update straight from Nintendo, tucked within the announcement of the new date and time for the next Nintendo Direct video release on YouTube. There are options for both individual and family memberships (up to 8 users).

More details on the service are expected during Nintendo's rescheduled Direct event which takes place on September 13 at 6:00 p.m.
