Some sources close to Moonves said in August that he had vowed to fight both the allegations of wrongdoing and the legal war against Redstone.

As part of his exit from the network, Moonves and CBS said they will donate $20 million to "one or more organizations that support the #MeToo movement and equality for women in the workplace". Moonves acknowledged making mistakes in his past but said he never abused his power.

"I do not know why, but it's true".

Moonves' resignation comes after new claims of sexual misconduct. "We believe them", Times' Up said in a statement early Sunday.

With regard to National Amusements Inc (NAI), the CBS board voted to rescind a previously announced special share dividend, which would have lowered National Amusements' 80% controlling stake in the media company.
