Man opens fire, gets shot by police outside Ice Cube concert: Authorities

The sold-out show, drawing about 18,000 people, was part of the 2018 Del Mar Summer Concert Series.

Police responded Sunday evening to reports of an officer-involved shooting at the Del Mar Racetrack in Southern California, where a concert featuring rapper Ice Cube was scheduled.

Inside the venue, the evening's final horse racing event was taking place.

The sheriff's department said that Elizarraras went up to the ticket window of the Thoroughbred Club on Sunday at 6:40 p.m. and was told that there were no more tickets left for Ice Cube's concert. The concerts take place at the Seaside Stage, which is located near the west end of the racetrack's Grandstand. A man in a black and white uniform with a walkie-talkie on his belt was then shown trying to restrain another man.

Video posted to Twitter appears to show a man surrounded by two deputies and holding a handgun in the air.

As the field for the race pulled up past the finish, TVG host Todd Schrupp exclaimed, "There's gunfire at the track".

Deputies returned fire, the sheriff said.

Within minutes there was a heavy police presence as San Diego County deputies streamed into the track and a helicopter was seen overhead.

No one else was injured.

No further details were immediately available.
