José Mourinho says Juventus’ spending can win them Champions League

He said that Cristiano Ronaldo was never on the table for him in the first place and rejecting the opportunity to sign the former Real Madrid hitman is a far cry.

The Sunday Mirror reports that manager Jose Mourinho specifically instructed the Manchester United hierarchy not to bring, as he was of the belief that paying a £90million fee for a 33 year-old, whilst also providing Ronaldo with half a million a week wages would make "no sense".

"They don't hide", he said admiringly, having previously gone public with his own disappointment at United's failure to land more than one of his transfer targets.

Ronaldo has experienced a barren start to life in Serie A following his blockbuster arrival from Real Madrid, the five-time Ballon d'Or victor scoreless in Juve's 2-1 win at Parma on Saturday.

"I think Cristiano will like coming back as he was happy to come back when he was at Real Madrid".

"They study every match to try not to concede space to the other teams".

"It was never on the table".

"To be really good offensively you have to be solid at the back, all the best teams are, because that is what allows you the confidence to take risks. The global break will help him to become sharper".

That's more goals than his dad for Juventus. "Will never forget that moment, specially the reaction of the fans in the stadium", the Portuguese superstar said on Twitter, using the hashtag #SpecialMoment.

Things are set to be emotional as Ronaldo is set to face United in the Champions League.

United go to Burnley today desperate for a win.

Ronaldo scored 26 goals in 27 Spanish league appearances last season.

"I don't know what's happening in Manchester, but wait before criticising Mourinho", revealed Ronaldo.
