Chelsea Transfers: 5 Under-The-Radar Keepers To Replace Thibaut Courtois

Chelsea are reportedly set to retain Real Madrid target Thibaut Courtois for next season after they failed to find a suitable replacement of the Belgian global.

Courtois' agent Christophe Henrotay pleaded the higher officials at Chelsea to allow the transfer to happen but Chelsea high-ups are firm over there decision.

Chelsea's new manager Maurizio Sarri said he expects Willian to stay at the club and that there is "no problem" with the Brazil midfielder who turned up five days late for training.

The goalkeeper wants to return to Madrid to be closer to his family and experience a new challenge after four years as Chelsea's No.1. Perhaps the best option would be to find a replacement and accept Madrid's offer. Veteran Robert Green has been signed by the Blues this summer and they have been linked with several other keepers, including Leicester City's Kasper Schmeichel.

The 26-year-old has less than year remaining on his contract and according to The Sun, Courtois has formally told the Blues that he will not be renewing his deal.

Henrotay added: "It is understandable people might be upset because he wants to leave the club".

"But this is a human decision based on someone wanting to be close to his children - and that is a reasonable thing too". "It was a very positive conversation and I am very happy about it".

Chelsea FC will be aiming to be one of the main contenders for the Premier League title next season as they look to try and build a squad capable of at least breaking back into the top four.

Chelsea are reluctant to sell goalkeeper Courtois, who is in the final year of his contract, without first securing a replacement, but their top target Alisson was signed for £65 million by Liverpool last month.

'At the moment Courtois is the goalkeeper of the club, of Chelsea, and so I don't know in the future.
