Ander Herrera sends message to Anthony Martial amid exit rumours

Jose Mourinho and Ed Woodward are set for talks about Anthony Martial's Manchester United future, sources have told ESPN FC.

The report goes on to state that the Red Devils will strengthen their position on Martial - whose contract expires next summer - by triggering a one-year extension.

"I have plans to make him train the most most possible times with us because that increases his evolution", Mourinho said.

According to a UK Sun report, the Red Devils boss is exhausted of Martial and his agent's persistent request for a switch away from the Premier League side. His patchy club form cost him at worldwide level and he was omitted from the France squad that ultimately won the World Cup.

It is easy to imagine the 22-year-old might look a great deal more convincing at a different club and under a different manager, having been played in an unfamiliar wide role under the demanding Jose Mourinho.

"Michael was one of the best in the world and one of the best that Manchester United ever had".

"I'm sure that's what the manager thinks because I don't think I would still be involved right now if he didn't believe in me".

The French winger has struggled for regular playing time under Jose Mourinho over the past two seasons, leaving him to recently be linked with Chelsea and Juventus.

"I would like to be in Los Angeles now and I am in San Jose, you can not do whatever you want in life", said Mourinho, who is also linked with a move for Leicester and England centre-half Harry Maguire.

According to the Telegraph, there is also interest from Tottenham, but Manchester United are unlikely to do business with the English club.

Martial burst onto the Premier League scene back in 2015, scoring a sensational goal on his Manchester United debut against bitter rivals Liverpool, before going on to finish as the clubs top scorer in his first season at the club.

Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford are yet to return for pre-season so Martial played the full 90 minutes in United's disappointing draw with San Jose Earthquakes.
