Surprise! Galaxy Note 9 Will Double as PC Without a Dock

Samsung is set to launch the next-gen Galaxy Note device next month at its Unpacked event.

In May, it was reported that the expectation was that Fortnite's battle royale mode would arrive on Android sometime in the summer, but no exact dates were pegged down.

As is usually the case with Samsung, while the Galaxy Note 9 will nearly certainly be available in at least five different color options - all of which are shown here - there are no guarantees all colors will be available in all markets. The Galaxy S9 wasn't the best-selling phone Samsung thought it would be, so the company is hoping that the Note 9 will do better than its predecessor. That means Android gamers should be able to play Fortnite before the end of September, right?

Samsung has always been rumored to be making a folding phone, now known as the Samsung Galaxy X, and it looks like the handset might land in the first half of 2019, yet we might get a folding phone from Huawei even sooner. It was rumored back in 2013 that Samsung was working on another high-end smartphones series called the Galaxy F. Nothing came of it and five years on, the company has kept its Galaxy Note and Galaxy S series while the Galaxy F is nowhere to be found. The 30-day exclusivity window will be a big selling point for Samsung; gamers that are looking to get onto Fortnite on Android will want to shell out for the phone in order to get early access to the game. That's bad news indeed, although anyone who does opt to buy a new Galaxy Note 9 will at least get $100-$150 worth of V-Bucks to spend in-game.

Of course, the last time Samsung tried to put a big battery into a Galaxy phone, it notoriously didn't go so well. Chances are, the new ultra-powerful smartphone will release either on August 9th, or shortly after.

So there you have it. When Epic stated the game was coming to Android, there was no inclination that the game would be made an exclusive for Samsung, but if you were planning on picking up a Galaxy Note 9 after its announced on August 9, then this is a serious bonus for you.
