Manchester Utd's Sanchez trying to make United States of America tour after visa issues

If the former Juventus man continues in that vein of form, United fans might start to feel like the then world-record fee they paid for him was entirely worthwhile.

Although Jose Mourinho looked happy in Los Angeles as Manchester United begin their preseason tour, he's disappointed at losing Alexis Sanchez.

The midfielder was a key part of France's success in Russian Federation and scored in the final against Croatia as Didier Deschamps' side lifted the trophy.

The left-back has struggled to establish himself since Mourinho arrived in 2016 and started just eight Premier League games last season.

Pogba was a driving force in France's World Cup triumph. It's hard to say that to win the World Cup is not good for a player's career.

United begin their pre-season with friendlies against Club America on Friday and San Jose Earthquakes two days later before next week's International Champions Cup tournament.

"Hopefully he will come to join us later because it would be important to at least work with Alexis, Mata and Martial, who are the players I think we have in attack for the start of the season".

"It's a young team, apart from (Hugo) Lloris, they have more Euros and World Cups together".

"I think that's the point, about his performance level and his contribution to a winning team".

"In the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final he was absolutely brilliant".

When Lukaku didn't play and Martial and Rashford did in a defeat to Brighton, Mourinho said: "For many months you are always asking me why this player doesn't play, why that player doesn't play, why this player is on the bench, why always Lukaku?"

"I sent a nice message before the World Cup and during it I did not disturb anyone". They needed to focus on the job for their national team.

United's players that featured in the World Cup are now still off on holiday, so the first few games of the tour will give some of the Old Trafford outfits fringe or young players a chance to impress.

"I did it a few seasons back with Adnan [Januzaj]", he said.

"So I'm anxious because I'm not training [with everyone] and then I go to the Premier League without lots of players".

However, the 21-year-old struggled to make an impact at the Parc des Princes and was sent out on loan to Valencia last summer where he rediscovered some of his best form with 6 goals and 11 assists. "Maybe it's good for Luke Shaw, Eric Bailly, Andreas Pereira".

He has already bolstered his squad at Old Trafford with the signings of Fred, Diogo Dalot and Lee Grant.
