While walking the blue carpet, Cher and Streep spent some time in front of the flashbulbs together, presumably basking in their shared glory.

The surreal larkiness is crucially leavened with some nice lines, mostly given to Donna's mate Tanya, in both her present day form, played by Christine Baranski, and her younger self, Jessica Keenan Wynn. Taking place 5 years after the events of the first film, we learn right away that Donna has passed, though we're never told exactly how.

"Dot dot dot! That's what they did in the olden days", explains Sophie before she begins singing "Honey, Honey", at the start of the first Mamma Mia movie.

It's not clear when the album is set to drop but fans are thrilled with the news. They also shared something else: a friendly, delightful kiss.

"It was Meryl singing with Amanda Seyfried, and there was just Cher hanging out with the coffee cups!"

No word on when this album will grace our ears, but we hope it's real soon since she's already recorded it.

Cher, 72, portrays Sophie's previously unseen grandmother Ruby Sheridan, Meryl Streep's reluctant and mean mother. Lily's version of Donna is one that could absolutely stand against Meryl's, especially given she's clearly taken a few tips from her. "I mean, she steals the movie!"

Truthfully, I wasn't invested in the present day story at all until the last 15 minutes, where things really stat to pick up. "I think it's always like, 'I'm so in love with this person, so that person must be so in love with her too'". But I won't spoil that for you. I sat snobbishly on my high horse and said it was a load of cheesy nonsense with a clunky plot that didn't so much develop as lurch from one Abba song to another. "And it feels good".
