London awaits Trump's visit, braces for protests

Donald Trump hailed Boris Johnson as a future prime minister, accused the London mayor, Sadiq Khan, of doing "a bad job" on terrorism and said there had been too much immigration in Europe in an incendiary interview that raised questions about the decision to invite him to Britain.

The trip includes meetings with Prime Minister Theresa May, who has described the United States as Britain's strongest ally, and is determined to secure a trade deal after the country acts on Brexit and leaves the European Union in March 2019.

Mr Trump will meet the US Ambassador at Winfield House after arriving and then head to Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire.

Lead guitarist Geoff Sprinks said: "We will not be anywhere near where he's going to be, it would be lovely to have played at one of the protests".
