Chesea Close To Finally Replacing Conte And Gazumping City For Napoli Midfielder

Conte, meanwhile, won the Premier League title in his first season in England, but came under incessant pressure during a hard second campaign which ended on a high with him lifting the FA Cup.

Napoli president, Aurelio De Laurentiis has revealed that Chelsea is close to completing a €65million (£57.5m) combined deal to appoint Maurizio Sarri as their new head coach and sign Italy global midfielder Jorginho.

Conte took the Blues training on Thursday morning, but his exit is now imminent and Chelsea's players had the afternoon off.

"It has to be said that Conte has done an impressive job at Chelsea", Zola told Calciomercato.

Piotr Zielinski, Jorginho and Lorenzo Insigne have also flourished with Sarri at the helm.

Sarri has been replaced at Napoli by Carlo Ancelotti, but talks are still ongoing over a deal for him to take over from Antonio Conte as manager at Stamford Bridge.

But who is Sarri and what can Chelsea fans expect from him?

Chelsea have been tipped to buy a new central midfielder as Danny Drinkwater is expected to leave following a disappointing year in London and Jorginho is seemingly being brought in as a replacement.

"It's a very competitive league, between United who'll invest a lot, Chelsea themselves, the always improving Tottenham, Arsenal.it's a very lively league and very open to other clubs".

He added that his agreement for the sale of Jorginho with Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich was in place "irrespective of whether or not Sarri ends up taking charge of Chelsea".

Already, eggheads of the Premier League side have labeled the former Juventus manager a failure despite claiming the FA Cup last term, after losing the league silverware as well as failure to make Champions League spot. His relationship with the several players and the club's director Marina Granovskaia are thought to be two of the main factors behind his removal, rather than the fifth-place finish in the league last season.
