Golden retriever saves owner from being bit by rattlesnake in Anthem

'It was a handsome morning but as we were walking down the hill I literally nearly stepped on a mf rattlesnake, ' Godwin wrote on Facebook.

Her puppy, Todd, jumped in front of her leg to ensure she wouldn't get bit.

"That snake would have bit my leg for sure and he is absolutely my hero", Godwin told 7News.

Paula Godwin wanted to have a nice weekend with her two golden retrievers in her neighbourhood on Sunday morning. Unfortunately, Todd copped the bite. She later shared photos showing the golden retriever with a facial wound.

The loyal pup risked his snout to protect his owner from being bitten by a rattlesnake. Todd continues to recover.

The post has been liked more than 131,000 times. "Say a little prayer for my sweet hero". According to the page's description, the group wants to raise money to offset costs for pet owners in the Anthem area, not far from Sedona, whose animals need antivenin.

She added "Your kindness and support is truly a blessing".

'This is what a hero looks like.

His name is Todd, but you could call him a hero, because that's exactly what his owner is doing. "He's expected to make a full recovery and has been rewarded our fifth ever 15/10", the tweet read.
