NBA awards 2018: James Harden wins first MVP

Harden averaged an NBA-best 30.4 points per game (he was only the fourth player ever to average 30+ points on a 65-win team), still averaged 8.8 assists per game, and led the best offense in the National Basketball Association last season.

Harden wasn't the only Rockets victor at the Awards Show Monday night.

The 79-year-old former guard who starred at Crispus Attucks High in Indianapolis and in college at Cincinnati before going to the National Basketball Association said it's time for players to speak out about politics and education, among other issues. Under Morey's direction, the Rockets acquired All-Star guard Chris Paul from the Clippers to team up with Harden and rising big man Capela. "Winston Churchill said success is measured by failure, failure, and then come back with enthusiasm, and that's what I've done". In the playoffs, Oladipo averaged 22.7 points, 8.3 boards, 6.0 assists and 2.4 steals, but it wasn't enough to send the Pacers onto the conference semifinals, as they lost to the Cavaliers in seven games.

He led the league in scoring, 3-pointers and 50-point games with four while helping the Rockets to an NBA-leading 65 wins. Many felt Harden should have won both years, but last year's was especially questionable considering how a triple-double narrative overshadowed Harden's individual and team success.

"I think that as people evolve, and things are changing so much in the world with social media and whatnot, these people are young people who have families", Robertson said. He has since become coach of the Detroit Pistons. Casey beat out Boston Celtics coach Brad Stevens and Jazz coach Quin Snyder for the honor.

Robertson received the Lifetime Achievement Award from presenters Charles Barkley and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar at the NBA Awards on Monday night.

The guard averaged 15 points, eight rebounds and eight assists, joining Hall of Famer Oscar Robertson as the only rookies to post those numbers in a season.
