Controversial rap star XXXTentacion killed in Florida

In March, as his second studio album debuted at No. 1, XXXTentacion was released from house arrest so he could tour. He was just 20 years old.

Onfroy was leaving RIVA Motorsports in Deerfield Beach on Monday afternoon when he was approached by two men.

The footage resurfaced after XXXTentacion was shot dead while sitting in the driver's seat of his pricey black BMW sports vehicle in Florida on Monday afternoon.

The rapper was apparently shopping for motorcycles in Miami when a gunman walked up to his auto and shot him while he was inside.

At least one of them fired, and then both suspects fled the scene in a dark SUV, Concepcion said.

A witness told TMZ that after several rounds of fire XXXTentacion appeared "lifeless".

His single "SAD!" had been listened to more than 173 million times on YouTube, and reached the top-10 of the Billboard Hot 100 list. Kanye West said he was "inspired" by XXXTentacion and added "thank you for existing".

"I've been seeing a lot of comments, I've been seeing a lot of things going on social media saying that I had something to do with XXXtentacion's passing", wrote Soldier Kidd on his account, which has since been locked to private, per USA Today.

Rapper XXXTentacion attends the BET Hip Hop Awards 2017 at The Fillmore Miami Beach at the Jackie Gleason Theater on October 6, 2017 in Miami Beach, Florida. J. Cole called him an "enormous talent" with "limitless potential".

Born Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy, XXXTentacion was facing more than a dozen felony charges - including domestic violence against his pregnant girlfriend and witness tampering.

But much of his brief career had been mired in controversy.

XXXTentacion had a troubled upbringing and was expelled from middle school for fighting, but he channelled his energy and fury into music. Spotify sparked industry-wide debate earlier this year after it announced that it was removing his music from editorially curated playlists due to the charges.
