CD Projekt RED releases tons of new details about Cyberpunk 2077

Well, that gets remedied today, thanks to a series of info drops from the developer. First we learned that Cyberpunk 2077 is a first-person game, which caused some backlash from fans who want a carbon copy of The Witcher 3's design - but it turns out, the third-person perspective will pop up from time to time. That is not the case, it seems. However, you will see your personalized protagonist during cut-scenes and conversations.

Cyberpunk 2077 is a narrative-driven, open world RPG set in the most vibrant and risky metropolis of the future - Night City. These customization options, especially background of the character may influence the way that the game takes shape. Nevertheless, the character you customize will come with his or her own personality. Cyberpunk 2077 doesn't have a release date listed yet, but seeing it at E3 must mean it's not too far off. The main character of the game is V, who is a gun for hire in Night City. The character will be fully voiced and is named V. V can be male or female, and look however you decide.

You also have many ways to bypass areas depending on your specific skill-sets, an ability that allows you to slow down time, and an inhaler (which is how you heal yourself). As explained by the developer, players will "experience all of it entirely through V's eyes", which is a reference to the title being in first-person.

Interestingly enough, Cyberpunk 2077 won't pigeonhole you into any class, per say. As you slide across the floor or reach out to catch a thrown object the camera tracks your character's eyeline, while stealth kills include contextual animations like plunging an enemy's head into nearby water to kill them more discreetly. From shooting people's legs off with shotgun shells to severing arteries with extendable "Mantis' arm blades, you can do a great deal of violence as you go about Night City".

Exploration is encouraged. The goal is for you to not only engage with the game world, but with its inhabitants. In the demo shown, the player had previously hacked into the enemy Network and can now latch onto discrete areas to hack and disable weapons remotely.
