Alexa And Amazon Echo Now Available In France

Since this is an Alexa product, too, you can use the Fire TV Cube to do things like check the weather or the news, control smart home products, and even play music using the built-in speaker. It will let users control their live TV experience with voice commands through those boxes. This enables you to use the Alexa voice assistant without having to switch on your TV.

You can pre-order the Fire TV Cube today for $119, and it'll include an IR extender cable and Ethernet adapter. It's now only $89.99 for Prime members in the States, until the end-of-play Friday 8 June.

Fire TV Cube uses multi-directional infrared technology, cloud based protocols and HDMI CEC, that-combined with Alexa-let you control your compatible TV, sound bar, A/V receiver, and cable or satellite box.

Echo can perform all Alexa tasks. There are also apps available in the USA for ESPN, Fox Now, Showtime, Starz, PlayStation Vue, CBS All Access, and NBC.

What makes the device interesting though is its Style Check feature. All you have to do is ask.

But Fire TV Cube also has far-field voice recognition. Because the Fire TV Cube works with your cable system, it also shows you what's playing now on TV, including spotlights for premium channels like Showtime or HBO.

That's one of the scenarios you might set up with the aptly named, hands-free 4K Fire TV Cube media player that Amazon starts taking preorders on today for Prime members and that I got to preview a few days in advance.

Amazon also demonstrated the ability to have Alexa on the Cube respond to a vocal command even when the audio was blaring off the TV.

The Amazon Echo and Echo Spot are also more affordable, with the RRP of both devices set at €99.99 and €129.99, respectively, although at their sale prices they can be picked up for €49.99 and €64.99 apiece. Amazon Prime members can pre-order Fire TV Cube on June 7th and 8th at a special price of $90 and it can also be pre-ordered together with the recently announced Amazon Cloud Cam for USA $199.98.

Amazon takes the wraps off the Fire TV Cube that will be available at the end of the month.
