Jordan Henderson refocused on England after Liverpool's 'hard' UCL final defeat

Reviewing the friendly between Nigeria and the Three Lions, Chelsea stated on their official webpage: "Gary Cahill was on target for England at Wembley this evening, as the Three Lions stepped up their World Cup preparations with victory over Nigeria".

Jack Butland and Danny Rose are in line for final opportunities to stake a claim for a starting place at the World Cup.

He said: "It was very tough, it was a hard night, a hard moment, but when you reflect, we have to look at the positives and how well we have done in the Champions League campaign".

"To be honest I didn't really feel that in the last camp [Euro 2016]; it was pretty relaxed in the last camp as well".

England haven't won a major tournament since the 1966 World Cup and Tottenham striker Kane is hopeful that inexperience will also mean Gareth Southgate's squad will also be less fearful.

"I think they've got some really talented young players, players who have stood out this season like Sterling, Kane. I am not going to sit here and make that an excuse for what happened in the Euros", he said. I'm not there to preach to anyone, but I have experience of playing in big games.

And the former Charlton man says the keepers all get along.

But what would England's World Cup XI look like if Dawson selected it?

"But you have to believe, you have to have that feeling that you can win it". The attitude every day is high level, we have fantastic levels of fitness, the formation suits us, hopefully we can continue that.

"We can't afford to lose such a talented kid to England, it's better we put up a fight than to let him go, I will do my best to persuade him to switch allegiance". "I've got a lot of faith in this group of players, there are fantastic players in a close group and we have to use that". If Jordan Pickford starts again he's got the jersey. "First-half good, second-half not so good", Eriksson used to deadpan.
