Michael Cohen Offered Qatar Investments Access To Trump. The Offer Was Declined

The USD130,000 payment in 2016 to Stephanie Clifford, better known as adult performer Stormy Daniels, was made by Trump lawyer Michael Cohen, who seems to have only been reimbursed a year ago, according to the president's 2017 financial disclosure form released Wednesday.

One of the emails noted Stater's assertion that involving Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Trump-related project would help the then-nominee clinch the presidency.

"I enjoy my law practice and look forward to prevailing on behalf of my client Stormy Daniels", he added, using the stage name of the actress, Stephanie Clifford.

Daniels said she had an affair with Trump in 2006, and Cohen made the payment to keep her from discussing that in the press.

"Trump may be wondering today whether the information DOJ seized from Cohen's office included any emails or other documents showing he knew of the debt when he filed last year's report", former Government Ethics Director Walter Shaub tweeted.

Telecom giant AT&T made a "big mistake" in paying hundreds of thousands of dollars to President Trump's personal lawyer to seek his help as the company pursued a merger that the administration opposed, the company said Friday.

They later spoke again outside a meeting in Mr Trump Tower in NY on 12 December 2016, where al-Rumaihi was part of a Qatari delegation that included Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed al-Thani, the Post reported.

A Qatari diplomat - who told the Post about Cohen's offer - said the lawyer offered to find USA infrastructure projects for Qatar to sponsor in exchange for the $1 million.

"It's not a loan, but he reported it anyway", Giuliani, the latest addition to Trump's legal team, told the New York Daily News, directly contradicting Apol's findings.

An FBI raid last month of Cohen's home, office and hotel room - part of an investigation into possible bank fraud, wire fraud and campaign finance violations - was widely publicized. Broidy has said that Cohen and another lawyer, Keith Davidson, worked out a deal in which Broidy would pay $1.6 million to a former Playboy model he had impregnated.

In his testimony released Wednesday, Trump Jr said he did not tell his father ahead of time about the 2016 meeting at Trump Tower, also attended by the Republican candidate's campaign manager Paul Manafort and son-in-law Jared Kushner. The White House did not respond to requests for comment to clarify the reason for Trump's payment to Cohen.

Sater, who worked closely with Trump and had an office in the president's NY tower, reached out to Cohen in May 2016 and tried to gauge when Trump could fit the trip to Moscow into his busy campaign schedule.

In an interview with Business Insider, Giuliani said $130,000 was "the specific amount that I said".
