Everton finally set to sack Allardyce

The 63-year-old was due to meet with major shareholder Farhad Moshiri at some stage this week where it was expected he would be informed that he will not be retained beyond the end of the current season.

Rooney finished the season as the Toffees' leading scorer with 11 goals, but was absent for Everton's last game of the season with a knee injury.

Moshiri has been preparing for life at Everton post-Allardyce since February and the unrest from the fanbase has been noted by the Blues higher-ups.

Sam Allardyce will leave Everton this week with Marco Silva targeted as his successor.

Speaking to Sky Sports News during a "Season Review: Managers Special", he revealed there have been few developments - but he expects a decision in the next 48 hours.

Beyond the managerial situation, Everton will also discuss Wayne Rooney's future as he weighs up a £12 million move to MLS outfit DC United.

"Wherever the journey ends up at is not in my hands, it's in the board of directors' hands and Wayne's hands".

Allardyce secured eighth place for Everton in the Premier League after just two defeats in their final nine league matches.

Both approaches were unsuccessful, but given that Silva is now unemployed, he'll no doubt jump at the chance to return to the Premier League, should Everton come knocking at his door.

"They'll still continue to make it up that we've had a row, and that he's walked out on me, or that I've had a row with him and all that".

Despite signing an 18-month deal, Allardyce seemed resigned to his fate after Sunday's 3-1 defeat at former club West Ham, during which Everton supporters called for his sacking.

"Who knows what is going to happen next".

"The season has finished, I'm going to have a meeting with (owner) Farhad (Moshiri) this week and then I'm going on my holidays".
