The Steampunk-style dragon - a representation of Maleficent from "Sleeping Beauty" - continued to lift its head up and down while engulfed in orange flames in the Magic Kingdom.

A dragon float involved in a parade at Disney's Magic Kingdom caught on fire on Friday.

The float, which was part of a "Maleficent"-themed creation, was stopped and cast members quickly moved guests away from the float and parade, Disney said".

There have been no accidents, the spokesperson said.

Firefighters responded, but the flames were out by the time they arrived.

"Poor Maleficent the dragon set on fire during the Festival of Fantasy Parade yesterday", one Twitter user tweeted about the unfortunate accident.

Videos of the incident show that the float was still operational even as it was on fire, with its mechanical head rising and falling as workers tried to put out the blaze with fire extinguishers.

The paper reported that Disney is investigating what went wrong. She wrote on Facebook that the dragon's head was on fire.

The daily 12-minute parade has been a fixture at the theme park for the past four years.
