Wenger: Arsenal will challenge for the title next season

Wenger's final game in charge of Arsenal is against Huddersfield on Sunday.

The match will be one of Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger's last after he announced he's leaving the club at the end of the season.

The club are keen to appoint Wenger's successor before the start of the World Cup, meaning there's just a three-week gap between the end of the season and the first game in Russian Federation. "I think we've got our confidence back now, we're strong now, we'll keep going".

"The next evolution? Maybe I will see you in a few years and you will certainly have a European league over the weekends", he said.

Cazorla, 33, is out of contract at the end of the season and has been linked with a return to LaLiga, with former club Villarreal said to be among a host of interested parties.

"I had the opportunity, but at the moment I am behind England and behind Gareth Southgate and hopefully he will stay for 22 years".

But that was impossible after Arsenal's dismal run left them languishing in sixth in the Premier League amid growing fan unrest at Wenger's failure to win the title since 2004. "It destroys me because we were in front of the rest of the world, and now we want to be behind".

Wenger has been keen to keep talk of his achievements and his impending exit down to a minimum and appeared nearly embarrassed when presented with the commemorative golden "Invincibles" Premier League trophy as his parting gift following the 5-0 thrashing of Burnley.

'After that, I don't know'.

"So it is a long learning process of controlling who you really are, controlling the animal that is inside you". Control the animal that is inside you.

Asked for his advice to the new man, Wenger said: "Respect the values of the club".

"But if you have Real [Madrid] v Barca, or Real v Arsenal, or Manchester United v Bayern Munich every week the audiences will be good".

"You have seen one aspect of me and that is a desperate guy who wants to win football games and I suppose that's the thing that matters and what is really a big part of my personality".
