Tavon Austin on trade to Cowboys: 'Lot of weight off my shoulders'

Throughout his five years with the club, the West Virginia product was an integral part of the team's offense and special teams units.

So, what does Austin's fantasy projections look like in the Big D?

The Rams added Brandin Cooks in a trade with the New England Patriots this offseason, an acquisition that likely signaled the end for Austin in Los Angeles.

Austin counted $14 million against the salary cap in 2017 when his production fell off to a career-low 13 catches for 47 yards, though he carried 59 times for a 4.6-yard average.

The 28-year-old has played his entire career with the Rams. He also recorded 1,238 rushing yards for nine touchdowns, and scored three punts returned for touchdowns. Austin has caught under 60 percent of his targets in four of his five seasons and has failed to haul in a single receiving touchdown in two of those years.

"I'm just the type of guy who wants the ball in my hands any type of way", Austin told's Alden Gonzalez in June. Yes, there's playing time open for him and he should thrive on a fast track in a dome, but none of that makes him worthy of being picked on draft day.

No early-round wide receiver picks.
