OPCW Fact-Finding Mission Samples From Second Site in Douma

Josh T. Jacques responded to Russian Federation sending in additional missile defenses, telling Business Insider that Russian Federation "should move humanitarian aid into Syria, not more weaponry". He said Israel is concerned about moves by Iran and Syria, not Russian Federation.

The Russian envoy to the OPCW, Alexander Shulgin told a session of the OPCW Executive Committee on April 16 the Russian experts who had examined the site in Douma had not found a single trace of the attack.

The Russian embassy in the Netherlands said in a tweet that the briefing would involve "witnesses from Syria who were at the staged videos of #WhiteHelmets" - a humanitarian organization made up of some 3,000 volunteers working in rebel-held areas. The three countries struck suspected Syrian chemical weapons facilities in joint airstrikes a week later.

Husari says that in one segment, the reports use behind the scenes images from the set of his short film called "Chemical", as it was being filmed in the eastern Ghouta region in 2016. The U.S. President Donald Trump on April 13 ordered missile attacks at the territory of Syria as a reaction on chemical weapon use in Douma.

Meanwhile, in an action believed unrelated to the chemical attack, planes thought to be from Israel pounded an Iranian air base in Syria on Monday. The West, convinced Syrian forces carried out the attack with chemical weapons, launched airstrikes a week later.

Russian Federation has arrayed S-300 and S-400 systems around its main bases in Syria near northeastern Latakia and has claimed that the U.S., France and Britain deliberately avoided the area for fear of interceptions during the April 13 missile strikes.

"What's important to us is that the defensive weapons the Russians are giving Syria won't be used against us", Lieberman told Israeli news website Ynet. Previous reports had said Moscow could supply Damascus with the S-300 system, a development that has troubled Israeli officials as the surface-to-air missile can lock onto targets deep inside Israeli airspace.

Those tests will determine whether or not chemical weapons were used.

Tensions between regional foes Iran and Israel has intensified in recent weeks over the Islamic Republic's military footprint in Syria, which shares a border with Israel.

Eight years into the conflict, more than 13 million Syrians are in need of humanitarian assistance; about a quarter of the population is displaced in neighboring Lebanon, Jordan and Turkey, according to the United Nations.

Russian Federation is a key ally of Syrian President Bashar Assad.

"Russian specialists will continue educating Syrian military personnel and will also provide assistance in the mastery of new means of anti-aircraft defense, the deployment of which will be implemented in the near future", Sergei Rudskoy, head of the operations directorate at Russia's General Staff said, according to state news agency RIA Novosti.
