Rauner, If Asked, Would Deploy Illinois National Guard To Mexican Border

U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen will head to New Mexico for an update on President Donald Trump's proposed border wall.

A few troops were spotted on Monday along the Mexico-United States border in Roma. Doug Ducey said 225 members of the state National Guard are heading to the border with Mexico to help the Border Patrol and other federal agencies that help secure the border.

Mattis signed a memo on Friday that authorized the federal government to fund up to 4,000 National Guard troops for the border mission through September.

Governor Henry McMaster is offering to send troops to the Texas-Mexico border after President Trump's recent announcement.

The Trump administration has agreed to pay for the deployment of up to 4,000 National Guard soldiers for the border security mission.

Governor Brown was also very clear on exactly what the National Guardsmen won't be doing while they're at the border. He did not define how many additional guard members would be deployed.

California deployed troops to the border under former Presidents George W. Bush in 2006 and Barack Obama in 2010.

"The National Guard's efforts will include aviation, engineer, surveillance, communications, vehicle maintenance and logistics support", Chief Pentagon spokesperson Dana White said in a statement last week, according to ABC News.

And the governor insisted in his letter that Trump's public pronouncements on border threats were misguided - pointing to statistics that show the number of detained immigrants in California is at its lowest point in almost 50 years.

"There's always a dialogue back and forth between the Defense Department and U.S. Customs and Border Protection", Burwell said.

"I don't suppose it's a partisan downside or an id downside", he talked about.
