Oxlade-Chamberlain Calls Anfield Atmosphere the Best He's Ever Played In

The Ox says that this was the best atmosphere he's ever played in.

There was no controversy surrounding Liverpool's second though as as Oxlade Chamberlain blasted in a wonderful strike from outside the box.

Rio Ferdinand, who was on punditry duties for BT Sport, led the compliment charge with an assured verdict on Oxlade-Chamberlain after the game.

City's manager and players were dismissive of the effect of the Anfield atmosphere on their performance but that was contradicted by the England global, who admitted he knew from experience with Arsenal how it can have a major influence.

Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scored the pick of the goals in Liverpool's 3-0 Champions League victory over Manchester City, but he was quick to pay tribute to the side's defence.

The pair, who are both graduates of the Southampton academy, spent six years together as teammates at the Emirates, playing a combined total of 595 games and scoring 128 goals during their respective time at the club.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has hailed the supporters and says they were key to their win.

Wenger certainly can not be criticised for a lack of patience with his protege, having sat through his fair share of tortuous performances while supporting Oxlade-Chamberlain in the face of burgeoning criticism.

"It definitely shows why I wanted to come here and I want to keep improving".

"He was ready to work hard and there is a different style of football. It got us going and it would probably shake anyone up so you have to give fans credit for that".

'And that's what we were hoping for when he came here to make the next step.

Things got worse for City when Sadio Mane made it 3-0 to the Anfield outfit. He is an outstanding talent with a lot of things to improve. "The further you go the better the teams you play against and you don't get many opportunities so you have to be clinical".
