President Trump Called Roseanne to Congratulate Her TV Ratings Win

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders confirmed the call.

Trump seized on its ratings during a speech Thursday in Richfield, Ohio, that was to be about infrastructure but hopscotched through other topics.

He was so pleased that the show netted 18.2 million viewers, second this season only to the show immediately following the Super Bowl, he personally rang up Barr to congratulate her on the numbers.

And she claimed he's fighting child molesters: "Trump is fighting pedophiles and he likes Jews-that infuriates some people".

Roseanne has been a vocal defender of Trump, and on the show her character portrays an avid Trump supporter. She said, "I've known him for many years and he's done a lot of nice things for me over the years". Roseanne first aired in 1988 and became a hit thanks to its frank and amusing representation of working class family life in America.

Barr, who is a real-life Trump supporter just like her character Roseanne Conner, had some hysterical punchlines about her sister's political views.

The reboot proved divisive before it had even aired, after it was revealed that the titular character would be a staunch supporter of US President Donald Trump.

Barr said of the xenophobia, "that's your opinion".

"We just kind of had a private conversation", she said. I'm not a Trump apologist.

Barr has always been an outspoken and hawkish Israel advocate on social media, sometimes sparking fights, as in November 2015, when she called a writer for the liberal daily Haaretz a "privileged fat skinhead" over his call for French Jews to stay in France.

Barr recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel, who asked her about the Trump stuff.

Before the 2016 election, the comedian made headlines when she said: 'I think we would be so lucky if Trump won. "You all went so f*cking far out you lost everybody".

"And it was about us", the president continued.

"You want Pence for the f*ckin President?"
