Nokia 1, an Android Go Smartphone, launched in India for Rs. 5499

Nokia 1, which has a striking resemblance to the Nokia 3310, runs the latest Android Oreo (Go edition), a version of Android for devices with 1GB RAM or less.

The Nokia 1 has been priced at Rs. 5,499 and will be available starting from March 28 in Warm Red and Dark Blue color options. Apart from being a poster child for Android Go, the Nokia 1 is also a part of the Android One program and will get regular updates, a promise that HMD Global has kept so far with its smartphones already available in the market.

Combined with a removable 2,150 mAh battery and power-efficient IPS display, its hardware works with the optimised apps so users can make the most out of each charge. Unsurprisingly, this becomes the second Android Oreo Go OS phone to be launched in India after Lava introduced Z50 last week.

In an official statement, while launching the device, Ajay Mehta, the Vice President India of HMD Global said that "There are more than 1.3 billion feature phone users around the world, many from markets in Asia and Africa". The handset is powered by a MediaTek MT6737M quad-core processor clocked at 1.1 GHz with a Mali-T720 GPU. Now under HMD global, Nokia has brought long-awaited Android Operating System smartphones to its smartphone in the recent history. The Xpress On covers are available in packs of Yellow and Pink or Azure and Grey and will be available for purchase separately for Rs. 450.

On Monday, it launched Nokia 1 with Android Go Edition for under Rs 5,500, and plans to launch Nokia 8110 4G feature phone in May in partnership with a telecom operator. Along with this launch, there are some attractive promotional offers bundled up. It features a 5-megapixel camera at the back with a fixed focus lens and an LED flash. The storage is also expandable up to 128GB. Buyers will also be eligible for a 12-month Accidental Damage Insurance by Service on opening the Kotak 811 savings account, the company mentioned in a press release. It has an accelerometer, ambient light sensor and proximity sensor. In addition to that, users will also get 60GB of data.
