Three killed in fire at Manila Pavilion Hotel

Authorities said 3 people were killed in the fire that started at around 9 a.m., while at least 15 others were injured.

"The two are a security guard and a treasury officer".

The death toll had been reduced from four to three, he said.

Two firemen who ran out of oxygen while searching for trapped employees are lowered to safety following a fire that engulfs the Manila Pavilion Hotel and Casino, in Manila, Philippines on Sunday.

In a live radio interview, Johnny Yu, Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office director (MDRRMO), said the four fatalities were among the 10 who were rushed to the Manila Doctors' Hospital.

At least 19 people were unaccounted for, but Mr. Yu said that only two, both security camera operators, were confirmed to have been trapped in the hotel and rescuers were trying to reach them.

After attending an at least four-hour event in the morning, President Duterte hopped into the Presidential Chopper and conducted an aerial inspection on the burning Waterfront Manila Pavilion Hotel and Casino which claimed the lives of three people.

Responders sent a helicopter to rescue people trapped on the roof while crews battled to evacuate others from lower floors.

Manila is one of 16 cities making up Metro Manila.
