Raiders to Release WR Michael Crabtree

Raiders to Release WR Michael Crabtree

A person familiar with the deal confirmed the agreement reached on the first day of the new league year. Oakland is also cutting ties with Crabtree after three seasons, leaving Nelson and Amari Cooper as the team's starters.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the Nelson move had not been announced. In his first three seasons with the Silver and Black, Smith appeared in 35 games with 25 starts, hauling in 26 receptions for 175 yards and one touchdown.

Crabtree's release means that it is nearly certain that former Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson will sign with Oakland Thursday, as the 6-foot-3 receiver spends his second day in Alameda.

Once the Raiders brought in former Packers Pro Bowler Jordy Nelson for a Wednesday night visit, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported that Crabtree's roster spot was in jeopardy.

Carrier that had been agreed to on Tuesday.

Nelson had four 1,000-yard seasons in Green Bay, including 1,519 yards on 98 catches in 2014. Schefter also reported on Crabtree's release before noting Baltimore is interested in the veteran pass-catcher.
