Sammy Watkins, Kansas City Chiefs Reportedly Agree To Deal

But between Sammy Watkins agreeing to join the Kansas City Chiefs along with Tavon Austin expected to be out of the picture, 2018 is shaping up to be the flawless opportunity for Reynolds to step up and shine in the passing game for the Rams. The former first-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft will join a talented group of playmakers in Kansas City under head coach Andy Reid.

The Green Bay Packers will be one of the teams interested in free agent receiver Sammy Watkins, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Per Rapoport, the deal includes $30 million guaranteed.

It's been an offseason of overhaul for the Chiefs.

Watkins was considered one of the premier talents on the market.

The Kansas City Star reported that Dallas, Jacksonville and Chicago were among the teams also pursuing Watkins. He was traded to the Rams in August after playing 37 games for the Bills. The deal with the Chiefs pays him $16 per year in average annual value, but the Chiefs kept the deal relatively short, given Watkins' injury history in his time with the Bills.

The Chiefs will get cornerback Kendall Fuller and a draft pick back from Washington and two picks back from Los Angeles, allowing them to restock with younger players through the draft.

With the addition of Watkins, the Chiefs have now given second-year quarterback Patrick Mahomes a handful of risky weapons to work with.
