Richard Sherman says joining 49ers

They had fallen off the face of the earth with the departure of Jim Harbaugh and the retirement/departure of their core players.

Thomas' future is also somewhat uncertain as the team tries to work out a long-term extension with him, and singing McDougald gives Seattle a player it knows can fill in at either spot.

Shead tore his ACL in Seattle's playoff loss to the Falcons in 2017 and only played in two games previous year.

Responding to Lynch's comments, Sherman said: "I'm vengeful in that way.", before explaining his sudden will to stick it to Seattle stemmed from some of the more questionable actions of fans who burned his jersey after learning of his departure.

In a conversation with Peter King, Sherman laid out why people shouldn't be angry with him specifically. Talib, who ranks second with 34 interceptions since 2008, is 32, but he's also healthier, with Sherman still recovering from a ruptured Achilles tendon - the same injury that plagued cornerback Kayvon Webster and prompted the Rams to get so aggressive at this position in the first place. The 49ers make a lot of sense, given their proximity to his alma mater, Stanford, and rivalry with the Seahawks. He defended his self-negotiated contract and made a simple analogy to explain why he didn't return to the Seahawks after they released him. "It was such a great opportunity".

Sherman didn't dispute that aspect of the 49ers' appeal.

For all intents and purposes, Sherman is only guaranteed $7 million through 2018. The 49ers were not going to dump a bunch of guaranteed money Sherman's way at this early stage of the game.

"Of all the teams you could go to, for me, just watching this and the history and everything here (I thought), 'Not San Francisco, '" Brock Huard said.

Sherman had told the Seahawks that he would be transparent with them, so he let them know what had been worked out. "And it matters that I need to be, to stay close enough to them to be able to see the kids and be able to come out and be comfortable".

One angry fan posted a video of himself burning his Richard Sherman Jersey. A restricted free agent last offseason, Shead signed a one-year deal worth $1.2 million. "I didn't abandon anybody".

Sherman, of course, met with Niners head coach Kyle Shanahan the night before for dinner in nearby Los Gatos.
