Richard Sherman Visiting 49ers With 'Real Chance' He Signs

Adam Schefter of ESPN adds that Sherman will have a meeting with the team today and a contract could get done.

Sherman was in Las Vegas for NFL Players Association meetings until Friday afternoon but is thought to have then traveled to the Bay Area for his meeting with the 49ers.

Sherman became a star in Seattle, bringing a brash attitude and willingness to speak out on any topic to go along with his stellar play.

Sherman attended Stanford but spent the last seven seasons in the Pacific Northwest.

"We are very similar, yeah", Carroll said in September. They've got their own flavor to it. "But there is a lot of similarities". The release of Lane saves Seattle $4.75 million against the cap in 2018 assuming it is not made with a post-June 1 designation.

The release by the team announcing the move had "parted ways" with Sherman and referred to him as "no longer on the team" and didn't mention whether he could return. Niners general manager John Lynch has plenty of salary-cap space to potentially sign Sherman - roughly $70 million, according to Over The Cap.

If he joined the 49ers, Sherman would also be reunited with his partner for one of the most famous plays in Seattle sports history - Malcolm Smith.

Ten months after spoiling the 49ers' Super Bowl quest, Sherman ruined their Thanksgiving.

"I guess I'm more ahead of schedule than they thought I was", Sherman said then of his progress in recovering from Achilles surgery. Schefter didn't rule out the possibility of Sherman staying in the NFC West and joining the 49ers.

Sherman says that he will be back running on the treadmill next week, according to ESPN's Josina Anderson.
