Erdogan: Turkish Forces to Enter Afrin At Any Moment

Since the launch of Operation Olive Branch on January 20, the Turkish military and the Free Syrian Army have liberated 157 locations, including five town centers, 122 villages, 30 strategic areas, and one YPG/PKK base.

The Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) and Free Syrian Army (FSA) fighters are now only five kilometers away from the Afrin city center, as Turkey's Operation Olive Branch enters its 50th day.

Erdogan also reaffirmed his previous vows that Turkey would not limit itself to clearing the Afrin region of the YPG, saying it wanted to carry on to the town of Manbij to the east and then to the Iraqi border.

Turkey has repeatedly called on the U.S. to stop working with the YPG. "So hopefully, we can make some headway at that level today".

The word "neutralised" is used to imply that the terrorists in question either surrendered or were killed or captured.

The PKK is a designated terrorist organisation by Turkey, the United States and the European Union.

Since the beginning of the operation, the Turkish military and the Free Syrian Army have cleared more than 159 locations, including five town centres, 124 villages, 30 strategic areas and one YPG base.

It said they had also taken control of the Afrin Dam - also known as the 17 April Dam - which stores water and provides some hydroelectric power.

Erdogan noted that a total of 815 square kilometres (506 square miles) have been cleared from the terrorists so far.

F-16 fighters of the Turkish Air Force are involved in the operation, inflicting strikes on the positions of PYD/YPG on the Syrian-Turkish border.

In his speech, Erdogan said the military operation would not end with the seizure of Afrin. The target is to get 2,000 square kilometers under our control, Recep Tayyip Erdogan told a public rally in the southern Mersin province.
