Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus scores 99 on DxOMark, for what it's worth

Samsung has also introduced the dual variable aperture on the smaller Galaxy S9, though that variant only sports a single rear camera. The total score is the average of the points garnered in the still camera and video performance tests but it is in the still camera aspect where the Samsung flagship excelled.

"The Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus is a smartphone without any real weaknesses in the camera department", DxOMark writes. And with good reason-the Galaxy S9+ scored 99 points in DxOMark's combined photo and video evaluation, which is the highest ever, and 104 in the photo portion of the benchmark.

Just like the dual aperture cameras, the Galaxy S9 screen has no obvious weakness, setting or matching a grand total of ten records for things like absolute color accuracy, native color gamut, contrast ratio, screen reflectance, and brightness variation with viewing angle. DXOMark also rates the video shooting capabilities high, stating that the camera had very good stabilization, fast and accurate autofocus, good noise reduction and detail preservation, and decent white balance.

Samsung has consistently released some of the most impressive smartphones on the market, and the new Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus continue the legacy despite their iterative nature. Both the devices shoot on fixed apertures of f/1.5 and f/2.4 where the camera shoots using the f/2.4 and switches to f/1.5 in low-light conditions of less than 100 lux.

Samsung however says that it offers consumers two other biometric authentication options in the Galaxy S9 i.e. a fingerprint reader on the back, as well as the passcodes. Along with the awesome Photo score, the Galaxy S9+ also scored an outstanding 91 points on the Video score!
