Glasgow Airport delay runway opening time as snow suspends flights

Heathrow Express is operating a reduced service every half hour between Paddington and Heathrow, while Heathrow Connect services are suspended for today. Other airlines affected include United and Scandinavian.

FLIGHTS from Exeter Airport have been grounded to a halt or delayed as heavy snow and strong winds hit the area.

The airport had hoped to reopen its runway at 8.30am but has been forced to shut.

A spokesperson said: "All flights scheduled to/from Dublin, Cork, Kerry, Knock and Shannon Airports on Friday, March 2 have been cancelled".

Hundreds of flights in and out of the country have been cancelled today due to Storm Emma.

Flybe has cancelled all flights serving Edinburgh, Glasgow, Jersey and Guernsey all day.

If they refuse to pay out, you can challenge them.

All flights headed to LaGuardia airport were being held at their departure points Friday afternoon because of high winds.

"Extraordinary circumstances, such as snow, will not automatically entitle you to claim for inconvenience- but it's always worth asking".

Glasgow and Edinburgh Airports remain closed entirely, while East Midlands Airport was closed until at least midday.

The "Beast from the East" has affected all aspects of United Kingdom travel from, flights and trains to roads with some drivers abandoning their cars by the side of the road.

"Shannon Airport staff worked through the night in challenging conditions to keep the runway operational".

More than 200 people will spend tonight in the terminal building at Cork Airport after they were stranded by a combination of cancelled flights and bad weather.

"While we are now operational a large number of flights have been cancelled".

Manchester Airport is also reporting a number of flight cancellations and delays.

"Our teams are working hard clearing snow from the runway, aircraft operating areas, auto parks and roadways on-site".

"Passenger safety is our priority and we will be reviewing the situation as weather the events unfold". If their flights are cancelled passengers are requested not to make their way to the airport.

"We are now managing weather challenges, but it is a fluid and evolving situation and we are monitoring developments closely".

"Due to the ongoing freezing temperatures across the United Kingdom, some flights may be subject to delay or cancellation".

Gov. Andrew Cuomo issued a travel advisory for all areas north of New York City, requesting limited travel due to unsafe driving conditions.
