Fear The Wolves Battle Royale Game from ex-Stalker Devs Announced

Fear the Wolves means to offer a new and original take on the battle royale genre that has grown increasingly popular over the a year ago with the release of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. The game is being developed by Vostok Games, a studio comprised of ex-S.T.A.L.K.E.R. devs, who fittingly are very familiar with designing Chernobyl-inspired levels.

As described in its announcement, the game drops players-either in squads or as lone wolves-into the radiation-ravaged environment of Chernobyl. From there, they will have to fight to be the last man standing out of 100 people. Fear the Wolves is set to be a "new and original take" on the battle royale genre now dominated by PUBG and Fortnite. It will be releasing on unspecified consoles and PC later this year.

Only scant details about what to expect are known at this time, but the developers at Vostok Games will be revealing more at the next "Le What's Next de Focus" press event in Paris this February.

What sets the game apart from other battle royale games like PUBG is that players will have additional threats to deal with, in the form of deadly anomalies and a dynamic weather system.

There's also a mention of special "protective gear" that lets players explore "off-limit zones", so it appears as though the effects of nuclear fallout will play an active role in the matches. That is if you can survive long enough from the mutated creatures in the shadows.

Prior to launch, PC players can look forward to getting hands-on with the game through Early Access.
