In daring attack outside Srinagar hospital, policeman dies, Pak. terrorist escapes

In a daring attack, militants opened fire on a police party outside a premier hospital in Srinagar killing two policemen and injuring other.

The J&K police and CRPF reinforcements have started searches in the area and launched a manhunt for the detenue and gunmen, the sources said.

Naveed Jat alias Abu Hunzullah escaped when the waiting militants fired at the police outside the S.M.H.S hospital. As the cops ran for cover, the militant managed to escape from the spot.

One of the injured cops, Head-Constable Mushtaq Ahmed, died minutes after being shot, while the second cop who was battling for life in a City hospital died later in the afternoon.

A carbine rifle of one of the policemen is reported missing.

Jutt was second in command of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant group at the time of his arrest.

The police team was taking six prisoners, including Jhutt, to the hospital for treatment, added Deputy Inspector General (Central Kashmir) Ghulam Hasan Bhat, who visited the scene of the attack. In the incident two policemen suffered injuries. He had a scuffle with escorting policemen and suddenly two persons appeared and opened fire. One of the injured succumbed.

He was arrested on August 26, 2014.

A Pakistani terrorist in police custody has escaped from a Srinagar Hospital on Tuesday (February 6) after he was brought their for a routine medical check-up. The security forces have blocked off the area after the attack.
