Sanchez warning, Mkhitaryan to Arsenal update, Asensio enquiry

The Sanchez-Mkhitaryan deal is the latest move of a January transfer window during which Liverpool sold Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona for 160 million euros and signed central defender Virgil Van Dijk from Southampton for £75 million (85.5 million euros). Even Manchester City moved out of it in the end. It now looks increasingly likely that this information is correct, with Sanchez expected to be unveiled at some point on Monday.

In an Instagram post, he took a parting shot at ex-Arsenal players who have criticised his attitude.

The Armenia global moved to Old Trafford from Borussia Dortmund for £26.3m in July 2016.

"When a player of that ability comes along, I think you got to be in the market for him", Irwin, who played over 500 games for United during 12 trophy-laden seasons, told Reuters. Mourinho tried unsuccessfully to sign a winger in the last offseason. He appears to have been reluctant to bring in a new player on huge wages.

"They can always play together", he said.

He would have been available on a free transfer when his contract expired in four months' time but once City baulked at the amount of money involved in a mid-season deal, United manager Mourinho urged his club to step in.

Sanchez and Mkhitaryan came within MINUTES of bumping into each other at the immigration office this afternoon.

Reports emerged on Friday night that there had been a breakthrough in negotiations with Arsenal and Mkhitaryan's camp and Sanchez said his goodbyes to team mates at the team hotel.

It's believed no fee has been exchanged between the clubs, with Mkhitaryan's value enough to satisfy the Gunners.

"I'm very happy that we could finish this deal and I'm very happy to be here", said Mkhitaryan.

The 52-year-old Irwin, now working a United ambassador, was speaking in Mumbai as part of Gulf Oil's fan-building campaign for the club's supporters, who were invited to a live screening of the Premier League away fixture against Burnley on Saturday. Like a poker player with a pair of aces in his hand, who knows that another ace is coming in the next flop, Mkhitaryan could hold out for as long as he wanted.

He continues to be the talisman of the Armenia team and is their all-time top scorer with 25 goals from 70 games.
