English Premier League champions Chelsea endured a third successive goalless draw as they were held at home by 10-man Leicester City.

Despite their strong run of late, Chelsea start the weekend 16 points behind leaders Manchester City.

Both sides played midweek-Leicester tied League one side Fleetwood Town 0-0 on the road in the third round of the FA Cup, so the Foxes will have to play Fleetwood again at home in a replay.

Cahill was left out of the squad during the Blues tame 0-0 draw against London rivals Arsenal in the first leg of the Carabao Cup at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea's defensive back line is now ostensibly "more" first-choice than before, so perhaps they'll get it together against an impressive Leicester side.

The draw has now put Conte's men level with Mourinho's side, who have have a game in hand, which is bad considering that there was a point in late December when they were favorites for the second spot after dismal showings by the Red Devils. The good news is that Jamie Vardy and Christian Fuchs could be available after missing time through injury and illness, but it's unlikely that Adrien Silva will play, after appearing for the u23 side last night.

"Now I am fully committed for Chelsea, in this job to work with my players to try also to improve the club in the football aspect", Conte said. "We suffered a lot in the first half".

Eden Hazard had a chance on the break in the 26th minute after finding space to unleash a low shot from the centre of the box but Kasper Schmeichel produced a good save. The Foxes beat Chelsea 2-1 at the King Power Stadium in December 2015 which proved to be Jose Mourinho's last game in charge of the Blues.

"I think honestly, not to find excuses or alibis, today we paid a lot for the effort from Arsenal", Conte said.

"In this case we have two solutions".

Conte also bared his mind on Gary Cahill's hamstring injury. I understand Southampton are unhappy like I was not one time, more than one time when the mistake is against us.

Since August 2014, Vardy has scored more Premier League goals against "big six" opposition than any other player (22 goals in 41 apps). With Conte evidently lacking faith in the ability of backup striker Michy Batshuayi, which has probably knocked the 24-year-old's confidence and limited his effectiveness when he has been deployed, as Morata's toils up front have continued so have Chelsea's.
